HOW TO SEARCH FOR KANE COUNTY COURT CASE

SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION ON YOUR CASE IN KANE COUNTY Illinois

Looking up cases is relatively easy and FREE to do yourself.

Police officers are supposed to give you copies of all charges and relevant documents.

However, after receiving a traffic ticket, being charged with a crime or if you have been served with some court papers from a civil lawsuit you may still have many questions.

Here is the step by step process you can follow in order to locate your case information:

1. Go to http://cic.countyofkane.org/Pages/Online-Court-Records.aspx

2. Click on the red link “online Court records”.

3. On the next screen scroll to bottom and click box that says “Smart Search” search for court records

4. On the next page there is a box near the top where you may enter a case number or your name. You will then need to check the box confirming you are not a robot and click on some pictures as prompted

5. Then click the button on the right side of screen that says “submit”

Occasionally, when you enter your name to access the information you may not get any information from the website or not be able to find everything you need. There are several reasons this might happen. The case names may have been spelled differently when information was put it into the system, or the record may have been “sealed”.

Some people find the public access site difficult to access and/or navigate successfully.
